CHANGE NEEDED
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has stated that striker Neil Griffiths should change his attitude and clean-up his thoughts if he wants to stay with Celtic for the future. Griffiths was recently involved in the Edinburgh derby in which the striker was caught on camera singing songs against Hearts.
This has caused a lot of controversy and it is ideally not what Celtic would have wanted towards the end of the campaign. The club has just sealed the league title for yet another year, while they are looking to build on the success for next season.
The much anticipated exit of Samaras is expected to make Griffiths the main man at the club next season. However, Lennon has stated that he would have no second thoughts about selling the striker, who came as the replacement for Gary Hooper only last January, if he continues with his problem making attitude. There is a danger of Griffiths being suspended by the Scottish football association, but Lennon is hoping that the action taken by Celtic will be enough to convince the association that a further punishment is not required.
Lennon has also confirmed that Celtic will fight any disciplinary action taken by the SFA. Lennon has been linked with the managerial job at Norwich in the last few weeks.
“He’s got to stop being daft. We’ve dealt with it internally and I wasn’t over enamoured with it. I didn’t think it was aggressive and nor was there any foul language. But there’s a code of conduct he has to adhere to now. He did cross the line in that aspect. He will do when he gets his letter in from the club. I haven’t hammered him or overemphasised it – you have to give players a bit of space,” said Lennon, whose team sealed yet another league title this season.
