Celtic Loses Hooper and Division

Celtic lost the services of Gary Hooper in the summer after the striker joined Premier league outfit Norwich on a £5.2 million deal. However, the club has now been relegated to the championship. This has put his future in England on major doubt. Hooper has not been able to score the goals required to keep the club in the division. Now, they are understood to be looking at a buyer for the striker since his massive wages will be a major detrimental factor towards the club’s financial position in the Championship.

Celtic have emerged as contenders for the signature, as the striker could rejoin the club where he had a hugely entertaining spell. Lennon was also linked with a move to Norwich, but a relegation will have significantly changed the outcome. Lennon has not been short of expressing his desire to manage in the Premier league. Recently, he demanded the Celtic board that they provide with significant funds in the summer to strengthen the squad, which has won the league title yet again.

In his first season at Carrow road, Hooper managed just seven goals. The failure of the strikers to score the goals was seen as a major problem for Norwich.

“Centre- forward. Everyone is looking for one of them. I’d imagine the Hooper thing would rumble on but whether we could tempt him back or not I don’t know. I don’t like talking about a player who’s under contract at another club. But we think very highly of Gary put it that way. Whether we could do a deal he or the club would entertain, I don’t know. It would be nice to have him back but I think we’ll be a long way off that I’d imagine,” said Lennon.

Norwich were relegated after Sunderland managed a 2-0 win over West Brom.
