Despite almost having no experience of Scottish football in his career, Celtic appointed 38-year-old Ronny Deila as their new manager. After taking over from Neil Lennon, the Norwegian has big boots to fill. However, he is confident that he will be able to live up to the high expectations at Celtic. In his first press conference, Deila revealed that he will now be looking to get the club to more success in the future. However, he does not plan to do so by spending money on new players. Instead, he wants to fine-tune the mentality of the existing players so as to take them to the next level.

He has also stated that players remain at Celtic not just because they want to earn more money, but only because they want to play for a big club. He reckons that all players will prefer to stay at Celtic rather than move to another club despite being offered the same amount of money. He says that he is only here to help the players already present to win more trophies. The club lost Neil Lennon, who resigned from his post after four years in charge of the team. It is widely believed that level will be heading to the English Premier league after a short break.

“When you have players at this level they have targets and are there to perform. They want to go far. Some want to win trophies and many want to go to the next stage. Celtic are a big club but if we had the same money as the other clubs then everyone would stay here. That is the difference. But they have energy to be better. I can’t do the work for them but I CAN help them get better,” said the new Celtic manager.
