Sevilla Interested In Securing Van Dijk
Sevilla FC is interested in securing the services of the Celtic goalkeeper Virgil Van Dijk. The officials of the La Liga club are believed to be very impressed with the outing of the Dutchman, both in the Scottish Premiership as well as in the European Cup of late.
According to the reports, Sevilla is ready to spend an amount in the region of 5 million Pounds for Dijk.
Dijk had made his way to Celtic last summer. The Scottish top tier Champions had bought him from FC Groningen after paying 2.2 million Pounds as transfer fee.
Ronny Deila who has taken charge as manager at Celtic just recently had said in one of his interviews a few days ago that he was looking not to sell any of his prominent players at least this summer, but, if Sevilla goes to him with an offer or 5 million Pounds or more, it would be a little difficult for him to turn it down.
However, Sevilla is not the only club to have its eyes on Dijk. A few of the English top tier clubs are also interested in the player. The Southampton boss have been trying to get him on loan, while, the Gunners are also understood to be keen to have the Netherlands shot stopper.
So, Dijk is highly demanded in the transfer market and it would really be interesting to see what decision Deila makes eventually.
In the last season, Dijk had featured in 36 out of the 46 premiership games that Celtic had played and in neither of those games had he performed poorly.
However, his potential would be tested if he gets bought by an EPL club because the scenario in the English Premiership would be much different. Dijk would be up against real quality players there.
